My Name is Phoenix, I’m From the Ashes
Do you know how to rise? I mean with all that’s going on in the world, it can be difficult to boost our spirits and remain positive each day. It can be even more challenging if you have other personal or health problems holding you back or in my case, other beaks to feed, but I’m here to tell you there’s a way out of this pile of burnt remains. If you want to fly, look up, spread your wings and lift off the ground; it’s the only way to soar with the eagles again.
I know what it’s like to hurt. I’m a bird and I love freedom, but I suffered a fall last year and I’m just starting to heal. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking on this rooftop and when I look up, I see huge possibilities and the open air gives me hope. For example, I can see a tree branch not far off in the distance… I know I can make it there; and the rocky mountains, just beyond the forest, they speak to me… it can’t be impossible, can it? Now I know your problems may be larger than mine, but is there not an opportunity calling out for you to move north?
When I look up and spread my wings, I feel a huge burst of energy that I haven’t felt in a long time. Stretching is a powerful metaphor and I believe action is what we must take when our feathers are backed against the nest. It’s instinct… I could probably launch right now if I really wanted, except I’m not ready yet. You feel that way too? Doubt is like a massive wind gust that causes us to shrink down behind the twigs. Things outside our control can overpower us, but there does come a season when we must seize the moment.
Today is all I get… and you too! There’s always going to be some disaster waiting to knock us down, but regal birds like us are born to thrive and wired to survive; to glide high above the clouds where opportunities exist with each passing mile. Rising up is a commitment and not one we can take lightly, but sitting around in this pile of ash isn’t doing me any good or you either for that matter, so look up, spread your wings… and lift off the ground!
Truly believe from the deepest part of your soul that you can elevate your life. Are you ready?…. here we go: flap, flap, flap…. flap, flap…..flap….. (The sound of rushing air slowly dissipates into silence as Phoenix takes to the sky. He is followed shortly after by dozens of others that desire happiness and desperately want to see what lies just beyond the horizon.)
